Ottawa International Connection will have a very interesting panel of speakers for this event (and party), and all will be announced in time. The focus of this forum is the new generation in former Iron Curtain countries and Russia.
This event is intended to get beyond the political fronts that have divided people and strives to hear an academic perspective on history. While we will touch on the issues of the past, and the so called ‘Renewed Cold War,’ the focus of this discussion is to get beyond our ‘black and white’ perspectives, and create a deeper understanding, of the East European world of today, by looking at it through the lens of history. One of our main speakers is a respected Russian historian. Political debate is not the issue here, but to give a glimpse of life through their eyes. Through introspection, this will allow Canadians a better sense of our own conflicted viewpoints and opinions about where the future may lie.
We will do our best to launch an informed discussion. People from these lands are encouraged to respectfully participate, as our special guests.
This will be an East European Style Potluck Buffet with traditional Russian Ukrainian live Music. Dress is Nice Casual to Light Semi-Formal.
Everyone must bring a substantial main dish or salad as an entrance fee to this event. You may also opt to pay a $15 donation to help defray costs.
